When you shop for new floors for homes with four-legged residents, durability will be top of your mind. The floor also needs to be waterproof and easy to care for.

Luxury vinyl is layered and five times thicker than the original product. In addition, a top transparent wear layer protects the floor from scratches, scuffs, and dents.

It's impossible to wear off the design sheet. That's a good thing since dogs love to dig, and cats think everything's their scratching post.

Luxury vinyl can also be submerged or spilled on without damage. It’s also low maintenance.

Waterproof flooring: luxury vinyl, excited

This is an engineered version, thicker and even more durable. It's also constructed with the WPC or SPC cores that won't peel or ripple.

It doesn't matter how much water or long it's been there. That's especially great if you have a dog who loves to turn over his water dish (like mine!) or cats who are fascinated with liquid.

Engineered wood flooring: another version of hardwood

It looks just solid, but these new floors come pre-finished. That means an ultra-tough coating that can only be used in controlled settings is available.
